Toward Resilient Cooperation in the Fight against the Pandemic

The City of Sarajevo has the honour to host the 5th Capital Mayors Forum of the Central and Eastern Europe (CEEC) and the People’s Republic of China, in accordance with the decision adopted at the last Forum held in Tirana in 2019.

This initiative aims to intensify and expand cooperation between the People's Republic of China and capitals of the Central and Eastern Europe in the following fields: investment, transport, finance, science, education and culture.

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of multilateralism and open cooperation. Facing the pandemic, Beijing and CEEC capital cities have joined hands together to fight against the pandemic and steadily promoted cooperation in various areas and supported economic recovery to improve people’s wellbeing. These sound interactions have fully showcased the resilience and potential of cooperation among us.

At the present, the global spread of the Covid-19 pandemic is yet to be effectively controlled. City leaders and representatives are expected to pool their wisdom together for higher level of resilient and mutually beneficial cooperation among China-CEEC capital cities, and share sound practices of their own city in coordinating pandemic control and economic recovery.
